 Chana Dal | Yummy Recipe | Split Chickpeas Curry

A yummy and delicious recipe of chana dal which is known Split Bengal gram. Full of protein and other nutrients. Chana dal is my most favourite dish. Sometimes we don’t want to have any vegetable so this yummy dal is a perfect option to fill our tummy and its tangy flavour fulfils our taste buds.

You can get gram flour ( besan ) from this chana dal.
Try this recipe i promise, you won’t be disappointed. Its full of taste and easy to make recipe.

Ingredients

Chana dal 1 bowl
2 to 3 finely chopped tomatoes
Chopped green chilli ( hari mirch )
Salt as per taste
Turmeric powder ½ teaspoon ( haldi )
Red chilli powder as per taste ( lal mirch )
Roasted cumin seeds half teaspoon ( jeera )
Green coriander leaves for garnishing
Cooking oil 2 tablespoon
Sabit garam masala

Step wise method

Rinse chana dal properly then soak it for at least 3 to 4 hours. Boil it in pressure cooker around for five whistles. Keep it aside
In a frying pan pour oil, add roasted cumin seeds and sabit garam masala. stir it for a while then add chopped tomatoes.
Sauté it for 10 min or more. when you see a fine tomato paste then add all dry ingredients which are mentioned above.
Add water and give it a quick stir then add boiled daal. Cook it on medium flame for around 10 minutes.
Yummiest chana dal is ready to serve. Have it with pakwan, puri, roti, naan or rice.

Some points you must remember,

When you boil the chana dal in pressure cooker you must add few drops of oil, pinch of red chilli powder and half teaspoon of salt otherwise it will not whistle properly due to the density of the dal.
Red chilli and oil calms the water pressure.
